CANYON COUNTRY — Authorities released the names of two adults and two children who died in an apartment fire last week and declared the case a murder-suicide triggered by domestic troubles.
Det. Gil Carrillo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Robert Brown, 33, apparently set the fire, killing himself and his wife, Carolina Brown, their 3-year-old daughter, Kimberly, and son, Robert Jr., who was almost a year old.
“We have nothing to indicate that anyone else was involved” in the fire, Carrillo said. “We are calling it a murder-suicide.”
The fire, apparently set with gasoline poured near the entrance to the small back bedroom where the bodies were found, engulfed the two-bedroom apartment.
Authorities said the couple had marital problems and that Carolina Brown was planning to move out with the couple’s children. They said Brown was despondent over the impending separation.
