Bombay Co. Furniture Goes Back to Roots: Cutting short a costly flirtation with trendy customers, the Bombay Co. will refocus on lower-priced antique reproduction furniture, new Chief Executive Carson Thompson said. Bombay’s sales and profit soared in the early 1990s and, with the Nourse husband-and-wife team winning glowing tributes from industry analysts, its stock jumped to well over $30 a share in early 1994. Since then, profit margins have shrunk and the share price has plummeted back down to about $6.
