Suspicious Death May Be Illness-Related

Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a local resident as possibly the result of multiple sclerosis, a department spokesman said Monday.
Kathleen Kearns, 51, was found dead Sunday in her home on the 2300 block of Crowfield Court, and sheriff’s officials said there appeared to be blunt-force trauma to her body.
But Deputy Jim Hellmold said the injuries could have been caused by the disease.
“Her death may very well be the result of her illness,” he said. “But homicide detectives are waiting for the coroner’s report to show the exact cause of death.”
An unidentified caller notified the Lost Hills sheriff’s station of the woman’s death at approximately 4:20 p.m., and deputies arrived soon after to find the body.
Officials were uncertain if the woman had lived alone and how long she had been dead before being found. The department plans to continue the investigation.
