Kansas to Sue Tobacco Industry: A spokeswoman for the state attorney general said the state plans to file the suit today to recover Medicaid costs of treating patients with smoking-related illnesses. The suit details will be explained in a news conference today by Atty. Gen. Carla Stovall. The action, which Kansas officials say will be the broadest such lawsuit to date, will mark the 11th filed by a state to recoup health-care costs of treating smokers.
