On Fighting Back

The letters re the Hotel Cafe Americana and the way the writers handled things (“Baja Bummers,” July 14) is too much.
The reason to put things on a credit card is that it gives you leverage. Mr. Davis should write his credit card company (with a copy to the hotel) explaining everything and informing them that he will only pay for the night they stayed. And if they cancel his card, there are hundreds of others out there. Fight back--don’t be taken advantage of.
We recently stayed at the Santa Barbara Inn, recommended by AAA. When we checked out to move to the Red Lion, I told them we could get a better room, with more amenities, for much less. Result: They took $50 off our bill!
