THOUSAND OAKS — A joke turned dangerous Saturday night when coffee spiked with detergent caused a woman to become ill, authorities said.
At about 9 p.m., the Ventura County Fire Department received a call about a poisoning in the 300 block of East Otono Circle. The caller poured dish washing detergent into his friend’s coffee as a joke, said a Fire Department spokeswoman.
Paramedics arrived to find a 24-year-old woman vomiting after drinking the tainted coffee. She was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
Sheriff’s deputies investigated the incident and determined that no crime had occurred, said a sheriff’s spokesman.
