Obituaries : Martha Blair; Homemaker Had 116 Descendants

Martha J. Blair of Ventura, a 27-year county resident, has died. She was 97.
Born April 12, 1899, at Ben’s Run, W. Va., Blair worked as a homemaker during her adult life and was known as a humble person.
Blair and her husband, Garrett, raised 11 children, and their extended family spanned five generations.
Blair is survived by eight sons, Garrett P. Blair of Ventura, Robert Blair of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dewey Blair of Santa Rosa, Ronald Blair of Rochester, Wash., Delbert Blair of Fort Worth, Kenneth Blair of Pierce City, Mo., Bruce Blair of San Clemente and Wayne Blair of Georgetown, Texas; two daughters, Thelma Louise Wolford of Temecula and Norma Dowling of Ocala, Fla.; and 105 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett Blair, and a daughter, Melba.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Chapel, Ventura, with Pastor Earl Kersey officiating.
Interment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
