ILLINOIS : Hayden Returns to Scene of Protest

California state Sen. Tom Hayden returned to Chicago 28 years after leading antiwar demonstrations in the city. Hayden is meeting with Mayor Richard M. Daley at a time when the mayor is counting on a successful 1996 Democratic National Convention to erase painful memories of the last one held here. Daley, whose father was the mayor who ordered police to clear the city’s parks of demonstrators, said there are no ill feelings between him and Hayden.
