Water Directors to Discuss End to Pension

Directors of the Mesa Consolidated Water District tonight will discuss whether they should continue to receive retirement benefits.
The issue was raised by Director Hank Panian, who has said he opposes the policy that allows directors to be part of the water district’s retirement plan.
collect at least $150 a month after retirement, depending on how long they served on the and how much they pay into the plan, he said.
Removing directors from the retirement plan will save the district only a couple of thousand dollars a year, Panian acknowledged, but he believes the board must cut back where it can.
