* Terry Ellis, “Southern Gal,” Elektra. With En Vogue, Ellis has enjoyed critical and commercial success befitting a group fashioned after the Supremes. But here--the first of several solo projects planned for En Vogue members--she’s just another diva wanna-be. Ellis has some thrilling high notes on “Wherever You Are” and “I Don’t Mind,” but that doesn’t dispel this album’s overall blandness.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (e x cellent).
