A fire in a detached garage destroyed the structure and a car Monday night, causing $30,000 in damage, Oxnard Fire Department officials said.
The 7:30 p.m. fire at 1166 S. J St. took Oxnard firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish, said Battalion Chief Terry McAnally.
McAnally, 15 firefighters, three engine companies, an engine and a truck responded to the blaze, McAnally said.
About $25,000 in damage occurred to the garage and $5,000 to its contents, he said.
