San Fernando Valley : High Winds Topple Trees, Cause Scattered Power Outages
- Share via
Winds gusting up to 35 m.p.h. swept through the Los Angeles Basin on Monday, knocking down trees and causing power outages in parts of the San Fernando Valley.
Department of Water and Power spokeswoman Lucia Alvelias said 800 homes in Pacoima and 400 in Reseda lost power for much of the morning because of the winds.
Most of the power was restored by noon, Alvelias said.
WeatherData meteorologist Curtis Brack described the strong Santa Anas as unusual.
The winds were expected to diminish by today, making way for clear skies and temperatures in the 70s to low 80s.
