North Hills : Witnesses to Fatal Shooting Sought

Los Angeles police were searching for witnesses Tuesday to a shooting outside a North Hills apartment complex that left one man dead.
The victim, Gilbert Tapia, 18, of Panorama City was found about 9 p.m. Monday lying in front of an apartment in the 8900 block of Columbus Avenue, police said. Tapia had been shot in the upper torso.
A motive for the killing remained unknown, but police officials said investigators were trying to determine whether the shooting was possibly gang- or narcotics-related.
