Central Los Angeles : Panel to Discuss Images of Asian Men

First Judge Lance A. Ito is beamed to America’s living rooms daily. Then actor Dean Cain, an Asian American, gets idolized as Superman and People magazine names actor Russell Wong to it’s 50 Most Beautiful People list.
Is this the year of the Asian male? That’s what an Asian media group will explore during a panel discussion at the Japanese American National Museum tonight in Little Tokyo.
“Is this a coincidence or has this been something that’s been happening over time?” said David Magdael, president of the Asian American Advertising and Public Relations Alliance. Gone, it seems, are the days when Asian males were solely represented in the media as martial arts fighters, butlers and laundry owners, Magdael said.
