VENTURA : 4 Pets Die as Fire Burns Mobile Home

Two cats and two dogs were killed when a fire consumed a house trailer at a campground at Emma Wood State Beach on Monday morning.
The animals died of smoke inhalation, said County Animal Control Director Kathy Jenks. The two cats were found huddled together behind a refrigerator, she said.
The 30-foot trailer was extensively damaged before county firefighters were able to contain the fire about 11 a.m.
Fire officials were not able to contact the owners, who were not there at the time of the blaze. Authorities were still seeking the cause of the fire late Monday.
