UC Regents Approve Hospital Merger: As expected, the University of California Board of Regents voted to approve a proposal by UCLA Medical Center to acquire Santa Monica Hospital Medical Center. Financial terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. The boards of directors of Santa Monica Hospital and UniHealth America, a Burbank-based health care company that owns Santa Monica Hospital, are scheduled to vote on the merger next week.
