* Letter carriers in Orange County deserve special recognition for helping their less fortunate neighbors in the community. On May 13, several thousand local letter carriers took the extra time and effort to pick up food left out by people’s mailboxes, joining a national effort that resulted in millions of pounds of food being collected for the needy.
The Food Distribution Center, Orange County’s private, nonprofit food bank, benefited from the work all the postal employees did that day as well as from the generosity of Orange County residents. We want to say “thank you” to everyone concerned with this great effort, because the support the letter carriers gave to us translates into hundreds of thousands of meals for the needy in Orange County.
