* Re “Rodeo Animals Fare Better Than Riders” (May 22):
The horses, calves and bulls might temporarily fare better than the rodeo riders, until they are injured or unable to respond in a manner pleasing to the participants and observers. Then it’s off to slaughter. Where is their loving care then? The human contestants do have a choice!

* Two of the most [recent] sickening articles in The Times were:
1. The foolish father taking his 6-year-old son to an NRA meeting and showing him how to shoot.
2. The rodeo in Rancho Santa Margarita. Rodeos should be outlawed. No animal should be used for the entertainment of we so-called “human beings.” We’re not worth it! This goes for horse racing also. Both are most cruel events and should be illegal.
