YOU FORGOT SKYNYRD

Am I in some sort of time warp or something? I thought I already did my time in the ‘70s. Then I fire open last Sunday’s Calendar and . . . whoa! What rock did some sick promoter turn over?
Ads for Ted Nugent, Bad Company, Steve Miller and the Doobie Brothers?!? I dug through my junk drawer for my old Bic Lighter. Yow! REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Boz Scaggs and Earth, Wind & Fire?!? Where are my eight-tracks, man? Foreigner, Cheap Trick and Loverboy--has there ever been a more useless triple-bill in rock history? Ho ho, Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos were always such a crack-up.
While I feel gonzo for Ted, these acts should be playing at Magic Mountain or on the Fantasyland stage at Disneyland. The Doobies have been playing in ballparks after minor league baseball games , for godsakes!
You can fool some of the people all of the time, though, so let’s just put ‘em all on one bill and call it “Cal Jam 3.” We can show Cheech & Chong movies during the intermission.
