8 Students Named to Military Academies

Congressman Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) has appointed eight Ventura County students to attend U. S. military academies in the fall.
The students were recommended by a panel of academy graduates.
Appointed to the Air Force Academy were Daniel Hendrix, an Oxnard High School student; Clifford Torrijos, a Villanova Preparatory School student from Oxnard, and Jayme Carter, a Florida high school student from Camarillo.
Appointed to the Naval Academy were Britt Boughey, a Villanova Preparatory School student from Ventura; Martin Ortiz, a Moorpark High School student from Moorpark, and Brad Burnett, a St. Bonaventure High School student from Santa Paula.
Quan T. Nguyen, a Moorpark High School student, was appointed to the Military Academy at West Point.
Brian Ruditsky, a Royal High School student from Simi Valley, was appointed to the Merchant Marine Academy.
The students are scheduled to enter the academies in July. Residents interested in a 1996 appointment can call (202) 225-5811 for more information and can attend an informational meeting scheduled for next Jan. 13.
