Portland native Damon Stoudamire capped a sweep over Oregon for his career with 32 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds as No. 13 Arizona beat the Ducks, 97-76, Saturday at Tucson.
Arizona, 21-6 overall and 11-4 in the Pacific 10, scored the first 10 points, never trailed and used its size advantage inside and defensive intensity to disrupt Oregon’s offense. The Ducks (16-7, 8-6) shot 32.5%, Arizona 49%.
Stoudamire, a senior point guard, was 16-0 against Oregon and Oregon State while playing at Arizona, and he finished the sweep fittingly, making five of 10 three-point shots and all 11 free throws. He had one steal and committed five turnovers.
Washington 78, Washington State 72--In the final minute, Bryant Boston made a 14-foot turnaround jump shot and then had a steal, leading to an easy layup by Mark Sanford as the Huskies (8-15, 4-10) defeated the Cougars (14-9, 8-6) at Seattle.
Washington held off a late Cougar rally to break a four-game losing streak to its cross-state rivals.
No. 15 Arizona State 82, Oregon State 44--Mario Bennett scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half as the Sun Devils (20-7, 10-5) won their fourth consecutive home game over the Beavers (6-17, 3-11). Arizona State led, 13-1, with 13:12 remaining in the half.
