LOS ANGELES : Slain Officer’s Widow Will Keep Horse He Rode
- Share via
Beth Heim, the widow of the Los Angeles police officer gunned down last month in Hollywood, will get to keep the horse her husband rode as a member of the mounted unit of the LAPD’s elite Metro Division.
The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday agreed that Heim should be sold Panzer, a part thoroughbred, part draft horse, for $1.
Officer Charles Heim had planned to buy the horse when he retired from the police force because he was worried that nobody else would be able to handle the cantankerous animal.
The council agreed to sell the animal to Beth Heim, also a police officer, for the nominal price, saying that the sale was for “a humanitarian purpose.”
