A Croatian dignitary will visit San Pedro on Wednesday to collect an emergency firetruck being donated by the city of Los Angeles.
Nikola Grabic, the mayor of Split, Croatia’s second largest city, will receive the gift at a ceremony at San Pedro City Hall offices on South Beacon Street.
Harbor area residents are invited to attend the ceremony at 2 p.m., said Tom Kruesopon, spokesman for Councilman Rudy Svorinich Jr. Svorinich, who represents the harbor district, arranged to have the firetruck donated. Kruesopon said Grabic will also sign a sister-city pact with Los Angeles on Tuesday.
