* God Bless America! This must be the only nation where a confessed kidnaper can get off after serving only one year in prison, and then collect close to a million dollars in damages for a broken ankle suffered when the police caught him in the act of picking up the ransom money (“Verdict in Brutality Case Upheld,” Nov. 8).
With the blessing of the U.S. Supreme Court, yet! And to think that so many working Americans spend an entire lifetime without making that kind of money, and without ever breaking the law.
Who says crime doesn’t pay?
