CITY SECTION FOOTBALL PLAYOFF ROUNDUP : Granada Hills Passing Game Fires Blanks
- Share via
The usually potent passing attack of Granada Hills High never got untracked Friday night as the Highlanders fell, 14-0, to Dorsey in the first round of the City Section 4-A Division playoffs at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
Granada Hills quarterback Brian MacLean, who averaged more than 200 yards passing a game during the regular season, completed six of 26 passes for 81 yards and had three interceptions. The Highlanders (6-4-1) managed only two first downs and 63 total yards.
Both touchdowns for Dorsey (9-2) came after interceptions deep in Granada Hills territory. John Watkins intercepted MacLean’s pass in the second quarter at the Highlander 34 and returned it 24 yards.
Quarterback Roderick Brown’s subsequent one-yard bootleg gave Dorsey a 7-0 halftime lead.
Late in the third quarter, linebacker Juan Jimenez picked off MacLean’s pass at the Granada Hills 20. Three plays later Antwain Wilson scored from one yard.
