A Canoga Park man was sentenced Friday to 18 years to life in prison for the December shooting death of a Ventura man outside the victim’s apartment building.
Garabet Majoubian, 45, received the mandatory sentence of 15 years to life for second-degree murder, plus three years for using a gun to commit the crime.
Majoubian pleaded guilty in Superior Court to second-degree murder in the Dec. 20 shooting of Erasmo Moro, 48, who worked at a Ventura pizza shop. Moro’s body was found in the carport of the Scandia Apartments in eastern Ventura after residents reported hearing shots.
At a court hearing in March, police testified that Majoubian and Moro had argued over a Simi Valley woman, whom both men considered to be their girlfriend.
Police said Majoubian, a construction worker, went to Moro’s apartment and shot the man after an argument. Investigators later found a 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol in Majoubian’s apartment, police testified.
