In other Division I wild-card girls’ volleyball matches:
Huntington Beach 3, South Torrance 0--Melissa Wendt had nine kills to lead host Huntington Beach, 15-5, 15-9, 15-7. The Oilers (14-3) advance to play Corona del Mar in the first round Thursday. South Torrance is 12-5.
Mater Dei 3, Thousand Oaks 1--Roberta Gehlke had 19 kills in a 13-15, 15-2, 15-4, 15-7 victory. Mater Dei (15-4) advances to play third-seeded Laguna Beach.
In Division III:
Cypress 3, Rancho Alamitos 0--Julie Adams had 14 kills for host Cypress (7-8), which won, 10-15, 15-12, 15-10, 15-4, and advances to play at Whittier La Serna. Christina Grosman had nine kills and 10 blocks for Rancho Alamitos.
In Division IV:
Rosary 3, El Monte Mountain View 1--Sarah Cody had 13 kills for visiting Rosary (7-9), which won, 12-15, 15-8, 15-11, 15-13. Rosary advances to play Ojai Nordhoff.
Savanna 3, Orange Lutheran 1--Kathleen Delay had nine kills for visiting Savanna (11-8), which won, 15-7, 7-15, 15-13, 15-4, and advances to play La Mirada.
In Division VI:
Southern California Christian 3, Corona Christian 0--Rachelle Noroian had seven kills for host SCC, which won, 15-7, 15-11, 15-8. SCC advances to play at Hemet Baptist Christian.
In a Division IV girls’ tennis wild-card match:
Valencia 10, La Quinta 8--Julie Quang and Allison Tavianini swept in doubles, 6-2, 7-6, 6-1, to lead host Valencia (10-10), which advanced to play at top-seeded Palm Desert in the first round Thursday. Lynn Wu swept in singles, 7-5, 6-0, 6-0, for La Quinta.
In Division II wild-card water polo:
Troy 18, Cypress 5--Scott Baker scored six goals and Justin Link and James Lee each had four for host Troy (19-8), which advances to play second-seeded Servite in the first round Friday. David Watkins scored three goals for Cypress.
Los Alamitos 10, Laguna Beach 7--Eric Ploessel scored four goals for host Los Alamitos (18-9), which advances to play El Dorado. Christian Jenson scored two goals to lead Laguna Beach (19-8).
In Division VI wild-card water polo:
Valencia 17, La Puente 10--Bernard Ma scored five goals and Eric Hagedorn four for the host Tigers (9-12). Valencia advances to play at second-seeded Hacienda Heights Wilson.
