In an Arrowhead League game:
Southern California Christian 20, Hesperia Christian 19--Southern California Christian scored its first points of the regular season and produced a fourth-quarter comeback to edge Hesperia Christian.
The Flames (2-7, 1-3), who were shut out in their first three league games, won when quarterback Steve Schinofen hit Jeremy Smith in the left corner of the end zone for a two-point conversion. On the previous play, running back Laramie Lumley barged in from five yards to pull the Flames to within 19-18 with five minutes 29 seconds remaining.
Despite completing only one pass in the game, the Patriots (1-8, 0-4) scored on three consecutive touchdowns in the second half to take the lead, after trailing, 12-0, at halftime. Leading, 13-12, early in the fourth quarter, senior tailback Tom Thompson fought off several Flame tacklers for an 80-yard touchdown run and 19-12 Patriot lead immediately after a Flame missed field-goal attempt.
Thompson finished with 143 rushing yards in 11 carries.
