Sprucing Up: The Airporter Garden Hotel is getting a new name to go along with its new look.
The hotel on MacArthur Boulevard in Irvine will become the Atrium Marquis Hotel when its $4.5-million renovation is completed next month. All of the hotel’s 212 rooms will be renovated.
“We have created a virtual resort atypical of most business hotels,” said Daniel Monnet, the general manager. Room rates will range from $89 to $150 a night.
The hotel’s entrance is being redesigned with an atrium featuring a stone column that was hand hewn in Mexico, silk-and-wool carpet from Thailand and lush landscaping throughout.
The hotel is being renovated by its new owners, Golden Hotels, which purchased it for $10 million. It is directly across the street from John Wayne Airport, so it is well positioned to take advantage of recent increase in business travel to the area.
