LA MIRADA : Curbside Recycling to Begin in January
- Share via
The City Council has voted unanimously to begin a curbside recycling program in January that will help the city comply with state environmental laws.
An 18-gallon bin for aluminum, newsprint, glass and plastic will be delivered to single-family homes, condominiums and apartment buildings with less than four units. Residents will not be asked to sort the materials before placing them in bins.
Monthly rates will increase $1.50 beginning in January, from $9.96 to $11.46.
La Mirada and other cities are required by state law to recycle 25% of their trash in 1995. About 20% of the city’s trash is currently recycled.
