Tayyar Has Left Newport Harbor for Fountain Valley

Paul Tayyar, 6-foot senior point guard, transferred to Fountain Valley High from Newport Harbor at the beginning of the school year, Baron basketball Coach Gordon Billingsley confirmed Thursday.

“He’s a real good player, excellent,” Billingsley said. “He will make me look like a smarter coach.”

Last season, Tayyar averaged 13.1 points and shot 73% from the free-throw line for the Sailors (13-13).

Fountain Valley finished 22-6 and reached the quarterfinals of the section Division I-AA playoffs.
