Three Area Golfers Advance in PGA Junior Match Play

LONG BEACH —  A trio of area players survived the first two rounds of head-to-head competition Thursday in the Southern California PGA junior match play championships at El Dorado Golf Course.

Steve Farris of Newhall and Anthony Marciano of Simi Valley each advanced to today’s round of 16. Farris defeated Jeff Bhaedhayajibh of Chino, 6 and 5, in an afternoon match while Marciano routed Ira Flood of Los Angeles, 8 and 6.

In the girls’ competition, Linda Ishii of Westlake Village defeated Susan Kim of Cerritos, 4 and 3, in an afternoon quarterfinal. Ishii will face Natalie Wong of Montebello in the semifinals today.
