VAN NUYS : Job Center Planned at Valley College
- Share via
A center to help out-of-work residents of the northwest San Fernando Valley find employment will be set up Aug. 1 at Valley College under a grant from the city of Los Angeles.
The $3.6-million grant comes from federal Job Training Partnership Act funds and will be spent at $1.2 million a year over three years.
The money will create a Comprehensive Jobs Assistance Center at the college, one of a network of such centers being established throughout the city. The centers give a wide range of employment services under one roof and are yet another example of “one-stop shopping” becoming popular in federal services.
The centers will give displaced workers job search help, referral services and training, as needed. Valley College is located at 5800 Fulton Ave., Van Nuys.
