Authorities arrested a man suspected of shooting at a Ventura County sheriff’s deputy late Tuesday in the Ventura Avenue area.
The man, whose identity was not available, was taken into custody by Ventura police and sheriff’s deputies about 10 minutes after Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Evans reported that he had been fired upon, authorities said.
About 9:10 p.m., Evans was in the area of Cedar and Simpson streets looking for another man sought on numerous outstanding warrants when someone began shooting at him, Sheriff’s Lt. Paul Anderson said.
Evans received back-up from Ventura police, who helped him find and arrest a suspect, Anderson said.
No further details were available Tuesday night.
