Safest City?

So Money magazine rates Irvine, the home of First Pension Corp., as the safest city in the U.S. (May 25)! Strange. I find the callous, calculated cruelty of those who stole millions of dollars from people attempting to save for a decent retirement far more terrifying than the deadly and pathetic shootouts between rival gangsters here on our L.A. streets.
The victims of the First Pension debacle wouldn’t be listed under the violent crime heading, but there will be plenty of deaths per 100,000 and even more lives ruined. A holdup at pen-point can be just as fatal as one at knifepoint.
