Times staff writer David W. Myers catches up with former Dodgers and Angels
The Yankees sold Cowan to the Angels at the end of a trip to Anaheim in the summer of 1969. He responded with a home run in his first pinch-hit appearance a few days later and batted .304 for the rest of the season. An outfielder, Cowan was making a rare start at first base when the Angels completed the first triple play in team history on June 26, 1970.
Cowan, 55, began selling real estate after the Angels released him in 1972. He lives in Palos Verdes Estates.
