Navy Chief Reportedly Confirms Harassment

WASHINGTON — Navy Secretary John H. Dalton has told a female lieutenant she was mistreated by her superior officer and has censured the man, a senior Navy official said Tuesday.
Dalton, who wrote Lt. Darlene Simmons several weeks ago, also moved to expunge negative portions of her personnel record that had resulted from the sexual harassment, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Simmons, a legal officer, testified before Congress that her complaints of sexual harassment from her superior had resulted in more.
