Arthur D. MacDonald; Ex-President of L.A. Scout Council

Arthur D. MacDonald, 81, former soft drink executive and president of the Los Angeles Council of Boy Scouts of America. A Canadian native, he moved to Los Angeles with his family as a youngster. MacDonald capped a 40-year career in the soft drink industry by serving as chairman of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Los Angeles. Also a community leader, he headed the Boy Scouts and served as president of the Los Angeles Merchants and Manufacturers Assn. The Scout council honored him by setting up a special scholarship fund in his name to aid Latino Boy Scouts. MacDonald was a trustee of both the University of Redlands and Pepperdine University, and a board member of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and the city’s Civic Light Opera Assn. On Thursday in Pasadena.
