Newsday and Nynex to Develop Home Shopping Service: Nynex Corp. and Newsday, a Long Island, N.Y., newspaper published by Times Mirror Co., said they will form a joint venture that will allow consumers to search Nynex business directory listings and Newsday advertising listings over the phone. Consumers will be able to find the products and services best suited to their needs based on location, cost, hours of service and other criteria, the companies said. The shopping service will be offered first in southern New York state. Los Angeles-based Times Mirror recently announced a similar electronic shopping venture between The Los Angeles Times newspaper and Pacific Telesis.
