BOYS’ SOCCER ROUNDUP : Canyon Beats No. 3 Santa Ana Valley

Canyon defeated third-ranked Santa Ana Valley, 3-2, behind Eric Valent’s goal with 15 minutes remaining in a Century League game Friday at Canyon High School.
Sasha Saneff and Larry Witt each scored in the first half for the Comanches (13-5-2, 3-2-1).
Santa Ana Valley (13-5-2, 3-2-1) got goals from Francisco Islas and Rafael Reynosa.
In other Century League games:
Foothill 2, Orange 0--Steve Patterson scored two first-half goals and Lanny Rudner recorded eight saves to lead Foothill (6-6-5, 2-2-2). Orange (8-9-5, 1-3-2) forfeited two games for using an ineligible player.
Villa Park 1, El Modena 0--Chris Miller scored 10 minutes into the game for Villa Park (10-3-7, 3-1-2). Brian Frazier made four saves for El Modena (2-4).
In the Empire League:
Esperanza 1, El Dorado 0--Jason Fiske got his ninth shutout of the season for Esperanza (12-5-3, 4-1-1). Mark Alleman scored in the 28th minute of the first half for the Aztecs. El Dorado is 7-6-5, 2-3-1.
Los Alamitos 0, Cypress 0--Clay Peterson had seven saves for Los Alamitos (8-6-6, 2-0-4) and Bryce Brunsting had five for host Cypress (10-5-4, 2-2-2).
In the Freeway League:
Sonora 1, Troy 0--Wes Hale scored a first-half goal for host Sonora (12-3-2, 5-1). Goalkeeper Robert Connell had eight saves for Troy (2-9-4, 0-4-2).
Fullerton 0, La Habra 0 (OT)--Mike Shumaker had nine saves for Fullerton (5-7-6, 2-2-2) and Alex Vallejo recorded three saves and Scott Taylor had two saves for La Habra (8-4-5, 2-1-3).
Sunny Hills 7, Buena Park 0--D.J. Buckley scored two goals and Chris Roselli had a goal and three assists for host Sunny Hills (12-5-2, 5-1), which is tied for first with Sonora.
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 4, Woodbridge 2--Jason Boyce had two goals and two assists for visiting top-ranked Corona del Mar (15-2-3, 8-0-1), and Garth Turner and Roberto Intriago each scored.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 2, Westminster 1--Sixth-ranked Edison (16-2-1, 8-2) took a 1-0 halftime lead on Jason Trout’s goal. Westminster is 6-11, 3-7.
Marina 0, Fountain Valley 0--Scott Hainlen recorded five saves and Scott Bertoni saved one shot for Fountain Valley (4-8-5, 2-4-4). Sixth-ranked Marina is 14-4-1, 8-1-1.
Santa Ana 2, Ocean View 0--Francisco Lagunas and Gerardo Velazquez each scored and Jesus Garcia recorded six saves to lead Santa Ana (11-4-2, 8-1-1), the ninth-ranked team in the county.
Servite 2, Huntington Beach 1 (OT)--Fergus McCreary scored on a penalty kick in overtime for Servite (7-9, 5-5), Chris Celio scored the other goal. Wyatt Simmons scored for Huntington Beach (8-5-2, 3-6-1).
