Pitchers Kevin Gross and Ramon Martinez got substantial raises Friday as the Dodgers avoided arbitration hearings.
Gross agreed to a one-year contract worth $2.7 million, up from his three-year, $6.4 million deal that ran out after last season. Gross, 32, was 13-13 with a 4.14 earned-run average last season and had asked for $3 million in arbitration.
Martinez, 25, agreed to a one-year deal worth $2,687,500 after a 10-12 season in which he had a 3.44 ERA and three shutouts in 32 starts. He had sought $2.9 million after earning $1,775,000 last season.
