SANTA ANA — The owner of a restaurant was injured slightly Friday by a pipe bomb found in a shoe box outside the eatery, police said.
A second pipe bomb in the box failed to detonate. Kam Yee, 61, of Santa Ana was burned slightly on the legs after opening the shoe box, which he found near the front door of the Texas Cantina Restaurant in the 1400 block of East 17th Street, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Anthony J. Levatino said.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad and paramedics responded to the restaurant, which has been closed since September. Deputies deactivated the second pipe bomb in the shoe box, and paramedics treated Yee for his injuries.
