Frosene Papahronis of Fullerton spent three years working and traveling throughout the Far East. She took at least 500 pictures, but this portrait of a mother and child, which she snapped near Mae Sai, in northern Thailand, is one of her favorites. “Taking pictures of people is the best,” she says. “I liked this one so much that I blew it up to put on the wall. It captures the ornate beauty of the traditional dress of the Akha people.”
