A couple of cable events take center stage on television this weekend: “Comic Relief VI” tonight and the CableACE Awards on Sunday.
“Comic Relief,” the annual showcase of stand-up comedians to raise money for the homeless, airs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. tonight on HBO, which has authorized cable operators to unscramble the signal and make it available even to those people who don’t subscribe to the pay channel. Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams and Billy Crystal are hosts of the event.
The cable industry’s 15th annual awards show, encompassing 410 nominees in 88 categories, begins at 6 p.m. Sunday on TNT.
