PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Ellard Revives Sinking Career
- Share via
After last season, the Rams appeared ready to write off wide receiver Henry Ellard, who appeared to have lost a step, and the team began searching for free-agent wide receivers.
The Rams failed in their search, while Ellard took to the track and began working on his speed and quickness.
Coach Chuck Knox said: “I think what he did in the off-season--he’s running around, jumping in the air, catching balls--the work he did really helped him, and he’s one of our bright spots this season.”
Ellard, who is completing his 11th season, leads the team in receptions with 52 for 807 yards and two touchdowns.

Knox said guard Tom Newberry (knee injury) has advised him that he might be ready to play on Jan. 2 against the Chicago Bears at Anaheim Stadium.
Newberry has missed five games.
Knox said linebacker Shane Conlan has recovered from a knee injury and will start against the Browns.
