LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Child Support Payment Crackdown to Be Expanded
- Share via
A pilot program seizing the assets of parents who miss child support payments will be expanded from Los Angeles County to five more counties, state Controller Gray Davis said.
Under the program, the state Franchise Tax Board can attach the wages and assets of those who fail to make child support payments. Between May and October, the program collected an extra $564,734 in support payments for 444 families in Los Angeles County.
The program will be adopted in Fresno, Nevada, Santa Clara, Solano and Ventura counties next year in hopes of seizing $14 million in delinquent payments.
