NORTHRIDGE : Trauma Center Seeks Volunteers

A rape victim’s journey to recovery can be a lifelong process, but having someone to talk to can make that process easier, said Patti Dengler, assistant director of the Valley Trauma Center.
The center, in Northridge, is searching for volunteers to help victims get through medical examinations and police interviews, or to counsel them on the center’s 24-hour hot line.
“It can change the whole experience from one just wrecking their life and making them feel broken to integrating it and being able to go on and to heal,” Dengler said.
Any adult can volunteer.
“It’s not as difficult as it sounds,” she said.
“It starts out difficult but becomes very rewarding.”
Volunteers will be asked to spend weekends in January at training sessions.
For more information, call Dengler at (818) 772-0196.
