Templeton Backs Run Over SCC in 49-13 Rout

TEMPLETON — Mike Banuelos and Jimmy Barnett each rushed for more than 100 yards and combined for four touchdowns to lead Templeton to a 49-13 victory over Southern California Christian in the opening round of the Southern Section Division XI playoffs Friday.
Banuelos scored three times, on runs of 28, 13 and 39 yards, while accumulating 142 yards in just 12 carries.
Barnett added 101 yards, also in 12 carries, and scored on a 75-yard kickoff return opening the second half.
Banuelos, who also kicks extra points, finished the game with 25 points.
Templeton jumped to a 49-0 lead before Southern California Christian scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns. David Enda ran 42 yards for the Flames’ first score, and Boomer Felton added a one-yard scoring run in the final minutes.
SCC gained 229 yards in total offense while Templeton amassed 340 on the ground and 353 in total offense.
The Flames, ranked second in the final Southern Section Division XI poll, ended their season 7-3. Templeton advances to the semifinals with an 8-3 mark.
