Royal 16, Camarillo 9--Safety Bryan Fernandez deflected a pass at the goal line as time expired to preserve the victory for Royal (5-4, 3-3) at Moorpark College.
With Royal trailing, 9-8, and six minutes remaining, Highlander fullback Christian Broussard turned a draw play into a 65-yard touchdown run and added a two-point conversion.
After the Highlanders had taken an early 8-0 lead on a one-yard run by Wes Lagatta and a two-point conversion pass from Brent Thompson to Scott Nelson, Camarillo (4-5, 2-4) rallied for a 9-8 halftime edge on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Jay Nirenberg to Aaron Hanel and a 28-yard field goal by Shawn Nakamura.
Robert Smith led Camarillo with 131 yards in 22 carries.
