Jonathan Roberts has been named director of the city of Los Angeles’ film office in a move that city officials and an entertainment industry trade group said will boost efforts to keep movie and television production in the city.
Roberts, 46, has helped clear the way for filming during his 20 years as a street use inspector in the Bureau of Street Maintenance. He was appointed to the new post by Mayor Richard Riordan’s Board of Public Works.
“He has been one of the most creative and energetic people we have worked with at City Hall,” said Gini Barrett of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
